Countries blocked due to fraud risk

Due to the increasing amounts of fraud originating in these countries Alabama Credit Union has taken steps to protect our members. These blocks only apply if a travel notice is NOT submitted.  If a travel notice is submitted for your debit and credit cards, the blocks will not apply, unless the countries has sanctions placed against them by the US Government.

Even with a travel notice for a sanctioned county, your debit or credit card will not work. We currently know these to be: North Korea, Cuba, Iran, Russia, Syria, and Venezuela.

EnFact Alerts

Alabama Credit Union offers an alert system to help make members aware of when potentially fraudulent activity has taken place on their credit and debit cards. This service can send you a combination of email, text, and phone call communications letting you know that suspicious activity has been spotted on your account.

Once a potentially fraudulent transaction is detected on your card, we will place a temporary block on it, preventing further transactions. You must respond to one of these attempts to reach you with a “fraud” or “no fraud” response for the card block to be lifted.

*To verify an EnFact Alert please call the EnFact fraud department at 1-855-926-5159 for credit cards and 1-844-682-4502 for debit cards.

*If you believe there is fraud on your Alabama Credit Union card, please call the EnFact fraud department at 1-888-999-0173 for credit cards and 1-833-448-0028  for debit cards.

Foreign Transaction Fees

Mastercard charges a 1% currency conversion fee for all foreign transactions on both debit card and credit card transactions.

When you go to an ATM both we and the bank that owns the ATM may charge a fee. We do not charge any fees for the first 3 ATM uses in each month at a non-ACU ATM. After those first three there is a $1 charge per usage. The bank that owns the ATM may charge for each usage. Those fees should be listed on the ATM screen each time you use it.

You'll be affected by the exchange rate, so the amount you are able to withdraw will fluctuate a little as the rate changes. The daily withdrawal limit, just like here in the US, is $500 per day.

ACU does not charge a fee when you use your card for purchases online or at a merchant.
